One week after rallying from a 22-point, second-half deficit to defeat La Salle, Elder narrowly missed handing Moeller its first GCL South loss in basketball since February 17, 2012.  But, in the end, the Crusaders extended three winning streaks with a 55-52, double-overtime  victory over Elder Friday night before a sellout crowd at The Pit.  Moeller (14-1, 4-0 GCL South) now has a two-game lead over both Elder and La Salle in the division.

Senior forward Grant Benzinger led Moeller, which has been ranked No. 1 in The Enquirer’s Division I coaches’ poll all season, with 20 points and seven rebounds.  Junior center Nate Fowler added 11 points and 13 rebounds, while junior forward Jack Anton had 10 points for Moeller – which has won nine straight games, has reeled off 14 consecutive GCL South wins, and has now won 14 in a row over the Panthers.
