Moeller, ranked No. 1 all season in The Enquirer’s Division I coaches’ poll, outscored Wilmington, 31-8, in the third quarter to break open a close game and remain undefeated in 2014 with a 69-32 victory in a non-conference basketball game Wednesday night at Moeller.  The game was rescheduled for Wednesday after inclement weather forced its cancelation from the previous night.

Senior forward Grant Benzinger and junior center Nate Fowler paced the Crusaders’ strong inside game with 16 points each to help coach Carl Kremer’s team extend its winning streak to 10 games.  Junior forward Jack Anton and senior guard Adam Gigax added 12 and 11 points, respectively, as Moeller connected on 26-of-38 field goals, for 68.4 percent.  The Crusaders also hit 8-of-15 three-pointers and outrebounded Wilmington, 31-11.

Moeller (16-1, 4-0 GCL South) looks to wrap up its second straight GCL South championship when it hosts No. 2 La Salle(14-3, 2-2) at 7:30 p.m. Friday night.  La Salle is the last GCL South team to defeat Moeller, winning 42-34 back on February 17, 2012.  Moeller – which has won 14 straight in the division - held La Salle to a season-low in points last month, as the Lancers went 0-of-18 from three-point range in a 50-29 Moeller win at La Salle.
