Sophomore guard Frankie Hofmeyer connected on four of his team’s nine three-point goals as Elder posted its eighth victory in nine home games this season, the latest a 64-47 victory over Withrow Wednesday night at The Pit.  Hofmeyer finished with 12 points and was one of four double-figure scorers for Elder, which was led by 14 points from senior forward Devin Pike.  The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but was moved back a day because of inclement weather.

Elder, No, 6 in The Enquirer’s latest Division I coaches’ poll, outscored Withrow, 38-16, in the second and third quarters combined.  Senior guard Thomas Autenrieb also scored 12 points for Elder (13-5, 2-2 GCL South).  The Panthers, currently tied for second place with La Salle behind division-leading Moeller, travel to St. Xavier (7-10 , 0-4) on Friday night.  Tipoff is 7:30 p.m.  Elder defeated St. Xavier, 48-36, last month in the first meeting between the two schools, behind 17 points and six rebounds from Pike.
