Moeller is vying to wrap up its second straight GCL South basketball championship when it hosts La Salle at 7:30 tonight.  The Crusaders (16-1, 4-0 GCL South) are looking to extend their winning streak to 11 games overall and also record victory No. 15 in a row against GCL South competition.  La Salle, in fact, is the last divisional team to defeat Moeller, winning 42-34 on the road back on February 17, 2012 en route to the league title.  Moeller was a perfect 10-0 in the GCL South last season and is 4-0 this season, including a 50-29 win over La Salle (14-3, 2-2) in the first meeting last month.

In tonight’s other GCL South matchup, Elder (13-5, 2-2) travels to St. Xavier looking for the season sweep against the Bombers (7-10, 0-4).  The Panthers defeated St. Xavier, 48-36, at The Pit last month behind 17 points and six rebounds from senior forward Devin Pike – who signed this week to play college football at Wake Forest.  The GCL South schedule comes to a close a week from tonight, with Moeller at St. Xavier and Elder at La Salle.  The basketball regular season concludes on Saturday, February 15.
