Junior guard Brad Miller had 13 points to pace four double-figure scorers, and Elder outscored St. Xavier, 15-3, in the third quarter en route to a 61-48 victory Friday night at St. Xavier.  Miller, the Panthers’ leading scorer averaging 16.2 points a game, was joined in double figures by senior forward Devin Pike, junior forward Mitch Moorhead and sophomore forward Peyton Ramsey – who each added 10 points for the No. 6-ranked Panthers (14-5, 3-2), which moved into sole possession of second place in the GCL South behind Moeller.

St. Xavier got a big game from junior guard James Heskett – who came off the bench to score a team-high 17 points and record a perfect shooting night from the field, connecting on all six field-goal attempts and knocking down all four attempts from three-point range.  Senior forward Roderick Mills, the GCL’s leading scorer at 19.7 points, added 15 points for the Bombers (7-11, 0-5).   Both Elder and St. Xavier are off this weekend, but are back in action Tuesday night.  Elder plays at Kettering Alter at 7:30 p.m. that night, while St. Xavier hosts Hamilton at 7:30.

The regular season concludes Saturday, February 15.
