The four GCL South school bowling teams begin the postseason Wednesday when they compete in the Cincinnati Division I South Sectional Championships at both Colerain Bowl and Crossgate Lanes.  Play begins at 9 tomorrow morning, with schools having chosen via an Open Draw to compete at one of the host sites.  Elder is the lone GCL South school bowling at Colerain, while La Salle, Moeller and St. Xavier will bowl at Crossgate.

The team format for the sectionals will consist of three games of regular bowling, followed by six games of Baker format.  The sum total of all team scores will determine teams that advance to the district championship.  A total of 16 teams will compete at Colerain (South 1 sectional) and Crossgate (South 2), with the top seven teams and top seven individuals from each site not on qualifying teams advancing to districts.

La Salle captured the GCL South championship this winter, finishing 19-4 overall and an impressive 15-3 in GCL South matches.  Elder came in second, with a 15-9 record and 12-6 mark in the division, followed by St. Xavier (14-12, 8-10) and Moeller (6-18, 1-17).  Kevin Polking of St. Xavier enters the postseason with the division’s highest average, at 214.9, followed closely by Matt Nichols of La Salle (214.7) and Josh Guy of Elder (213.1).
