GCL Bowlers Complete In SW District Tournament

La Salle, the regular-season GCL South champion, turned in the best team finish Thursday in the Southwest Ohio Division I District Championships held at Beaver-Vu Bowl in Beavercreek.  The Lancers finished ninth, with a team total of 4188, out of the 24 teams competing for berths in the state tournament.  The top five teams and top five individuals from non-qualifying teams advance to the state championship, to be held Saturday at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl.  Kettering Fairmont, Oak Hills, Beavercreek, Northmont and Middletown claimed the top five team spots.

St. Xavier, which finished first in the district tournament held at Crossgate Lanes last week, finished No. 13, with a score of 4113, followed by Moeller at 16, 3949, and Elder at No. 21, 3809.  Senior Philip Cleves of Moeller was the top finisher from the GCL South, finishing at No. 16 with a three-game series of 649.  Senior Ben Weinberger rolled the top series from St. Xavier, finishing No. 36 with a 627, while sophomore Denny Reichwein of La Salle (No. 59 with a 597) and senior Nick Roth of Elder (No. 74 with a 596) had the best finishes from their schools, respectively.
