Elder junior forward Joey Sabato scored all five of his team’s goals last Thursday in the Panthers’ 5-3 victory at McNicholas, setting the Panthers’ single-game record for goals scored.  Former Elder standout Anthony Meyer scored four goals in games against Dayton Carroll (September 4) and Kettering Alter (September 22) during his record-setting 2007 season.

Sabato, who leads the GCL South in goals (12) and points (26) this season, is taking aim at the single-season record for most goals, which is 22 held by Meyer that same year.  Sabato – named first team All-GCL South last season after scoring 11 goals, recording seven assists and totaling 29 points - and his Elder teammates travel to St. Xavier for a 7 p.m. match Tuesday, with first place on the line in the league.

Elder (5-3-0 0verall), Moeller (5-3-3) and St. Xavier (7-2-1) are currently locked in a three-way tie atop the division, each having won two of three GCL South matches.  Moeller hosts La Salle (3-4-3, 0-3 GCL South) at 5:45 Tuesday.
