Two-time defending Ohio Division I state champion Moeller travels to St. Xavier tonight in the GCL South football opener.  The Crusaders (4-0), ranked No. 1 in the Associated Press Division I poll and The Enquirer’s Division I weekly coaches’ poll, have won 10 straight games and are looking to make it three straight against the host Bombers (3-1), No. 3 in The Enquirer’s coaches’ poll.  Kickoff is 7 p.m. at St. Xavier Stadium.

The game is sold out.

Moeller edged St. Xavier, 20-17, in overtime at University of Cincinnati’s Nippert Stadium last September, and then defeated the Bombers in the first round of the state playoffs, 42-17, at Lockland Stadium last November.  In the first meeting, a 35-yard field goal by Matthew Coghlin was the difference.  Coghlin, who hit four field goals in Moeller’s 26-0 victory last week at Louisville St. Xavier, sent the game to OT with a 30-yarder with one second left.

Elder and La Salle finish their non-conference schedules tonight before opening league play next Friday.  Elder (3-1), fresh off its 21-14 victory over Lakewood St. Edward, then the No. 1-ranked team in MaxPreps Xcellent 25, last Saturday at the Pit, is at home to host Rosa Fort High School from Tunica, Miss.  The Panthers are led by junior quarterback Peyton Ramsey, who leads the GCL South with 835 yards passing.  Kickoff is 7 at The Pit.

La Salle (4-0), is vying to remain unbeaten when it hosts Northwest (3-1).  Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Lancer Stadium.   La Salle has put up some eye-popping numbers offensively so far, led by junior tailback Jeremy Larkin – who has rushed for a GCL-South leading 656 yards and 10 touchdowns in the first four games.  Teammate White Jarrell is second in rushing, with 389 yards, and has scored six TDs.  La Salle is averaging 446 yards and 39 points per game.
