Moeller golfers Jake Fox and Michael O’Brien, who each recorded nine-hole stroke averages of 38.13 after all 72 holes of GCL South play this fall, were named GCL South Co-Golfers of the Year for their performances and for helping lead the Crusaders to a GCL South championship.  Moeller coach Rock Bohne was named GCL South Coach of the Year after his team’s league-winning effort and subsequent state tournament appearance.

Fox and O’Brien were joined on the first team by teammates Quinn Sullivan and Ben Sattler, Kirran Magowan of St. Xavier and Daniel Wetterich of La Salle.  Magowan, the 2013 GCL South Golfer of the Year, was the medalist in last week’s Southwest District Championship to help the Bombers – along with Moeller – earn team berths in the Ohio High School Athletic Association Boys’ Division I State Championships today and Saturday in Columbus.

Moeller won the GCL South title by having the low score at each of the four 9-hole quad matches, and during both days of the GCL South Championships held at Weatherwax Golf Course in Middletown last month.  The final team standings are:  1. Moeller, 1,215 strokes; 2. St. Xavier, 1,245; 3. La Salle, 1,285; and 4. Elder, 1,290.  Fox and O’Brien wound up with 305 total strokes for all of the GCL South matches.

The GCL South second team comprises Cameron Frazier, Domenic Maricocchi and Joey McCarthy of St. Xavier, Nick Gruber of Moeller, Brady Heidemann of La Salle, and Josh Rhoads of Elder.  The complete teams will remain listed under the header All Star Team on the GCL South pages of the league website,
