It was another Friday night of strong performances by GCL South teams, as three league members posted non-conference victories in week eight of the regular season.  Moeller (6-1) is the final GCL South team in action this week, as the Crusaders have a Saturday night showdown in Columbus with Cleveland St. Ignatius.  Kickoff is 7 at Dublin Coffman High School.  Here is a summary of last night’s football games involving GCL South teams:

Elder 28, Winton Woods 21 – Junior quarterback Peyton Ramsey had another big game, completing 14 of 28 passes for 191 yards and three touchdowns, all to different receivers, and rushing for 89 more yards and a TD to help Elder snap a two-game losing streak.  Ramsey’s 9-yard TD pass to senior Louis Fallace with 4:54 remaining snapped a 21-21 tie.  Senior linebacker Kyle Orloff led Elder (5-3) with 14 tackles against a talented Winton Woods (4-3).

La Salle 42, St. Charles Prep 0 – Jeremy Larkin and Jarell White combined to rush 30 times for 208 yards and four touchdowns, and the Lancers erupted for 28 points in the second quarter en route to a convincing victory over St. Charles (2-6) in Columbus.  White finished with 16 carries for 129 yards to lead La Salle (7-1), while Larkin – the GCL South leading rusher and scorer – ran 14 times for 79 yards.  He now has 1,259 yards rushing and 19 TDs.

St. Xavier 23, Warren Central 14 – The Bombers used a balanced rushing attack and stingy defense to win their third straight game, knocking off Warren Central (7-2), Indiana’s No. 3-ranked team in Class 6A.  Senior Ben Glines had 95 yards and two TDs, while classmate Ronnie Fricke ran for 66 yards and another score for St. Xavier (6-2).  Glines’ 3-yard TD run with 2”10 left in the third quarter increased the lead for St. Xavier to nine points.
