The St. Xavier soccer team looks to extend its winning streak to 14 consecutive games when the Bombers meet Lakota East in the Ohio High School Athletic Association Region 4 Semifinals at 7 tonight at Sycamore Stadium, which is located at Sycamore Junior High School on Cooper Road.

The Bombers (16-2-1) have been nothing short of dominating during the 13-game unbeaten streak, outscoring the opposition, 37-2, recording 11 shutouts, including seven in a row currently, and allowing single goals in wins over Elder and Covington Catholic in late September wins.

St. Xavier’s last loss was to Elder, 1-0, back on September 6.  The Bombers advanced to tonight’s regional semis with a 4-0 victory over Vandalia Butler in the district final last Thursday, scoring all four goals in the second half.

Lakota East (12-5-3) also enters tonight’s game on a streak.  The Thunderhawks have won six straight, including four consecutive in the postseason.  East, like St. Xavier, has had strong defense – outscoring its opposition, 30-4, while recording three shutouts and holding the opposition to one or fewer goals in five of six games.  East advanced to the regional semifinals with a 1-0 win over Walnut Hills in its district final.

The winner tonight advances to the regional final against the either Beavercreek or Mason, which are playing in the other semifinal match.  The regional final will be played at noon Saturday at Lakota West High School.
