A matchup between Elder and La Salle tonight at The Pit highlights the final night of the football regular season for GCL South member schools.  La Salle is vying to earn a share of the GCL South Division regular-season championship with a victory over the Panthers.  Moeller and St. Xavier, who have already clinched shares of the GCL South title, host Louisville schools in final tune-ups for the Ohio state playoffs that begin next Friday.

La Salle (8-1, 1-1 in GCL South) is looking to maintain the No. 1 spot in the Division II, Region 6 Harbin computer ratings and earn a share of the GCL South coveted title.  The Lancers – No. 1 in The Enquirer’s Division II weekly coaches’ poll and No. 4 in the Associated Press Division II state rankings, will attempt to get past Elder (6-3, 0-2) – which is coming off consecutive victories over Winton Woods and Highlands.  Kickoff is 7:30 at The Pit.

The Panthers are No. 12 in the latest Division I, Region 2 Harbin computer ratings.  The top 16 teams in the two Division I regions earn a state playoff berth, the top eight finishers hosting first-round games.  Moeller, which has dropped three of its last four games, hosts Louisville Trinity (5-4) at Lockland Memorial Stadium.  Kickoff is 7.  The Crusaders (6-3) are No. 9 in this week’s Region 2 Harbin ratings.

St. Xavier (7-2), which sits atop the Region 2 ratings released Tuesday, looks to continue momentum into the playoffs.  The Bombers, No. 1 in The Enquirer’s Division I coaches’ poll and No. 7 in the AP Division I state rankings, are riding a four-game winning streak into tonight’s game.  Coach Steve Specht’s team has defeated Elder, La Salle, Warren Central, Ind. and Cleveland St. Ignatius in the last four weeks.

The Bombers host Louisville St. Xavier (6-3) at 7.
