Lancers Roll Deep Into DII State FB Semifinals

Backfield mates Jeremy Larkin and Jarell White continued their torrid rushing and scoring pace Friday night, totaling 398 yards and five touchdowns to lead La Salle to a 38-6 victory over previously undefeated Mt. Healthy in the Ohio High School Athletic Association Division II, Region 6 final at Mason High School’s Dwire Field at Atrium Stadium.  The win advances La Salle into the state semifinals against Lewis Center Olentangy (12-0).

Cincinnati.com is reporting that the state semifinal game, to be played at 7:30 p.m. next Friday, November 28, will be played at Welcome Stadium in Dayton.  The OHSAA will officially announce all future playoff sites Sunday afternoon.  Olentangy beat Dublin Scioto, 41=29, in the Region 5 final Friday night to advance to the state semifinals..

Larkin, who went over the 2,000-yard rushing mark for the season by eclipsing 200 rushing yards in the first half, helped La Salle (12-1) build a 24-0 lead at intermission – scoring on two TD runs in the first half.  Larkin finished with 25 carries for 265 yards and two scores. White, who wound up with 13 rushes for 133 yards and three TDs, scored on runs of 54 and 36 yards, respectively, in the fourth quarter.

The postseason numbers for Larkin and White are staggering.  The duo has combined to rush for 1,088 yards and 13 TDs in three playoff victories – helping the Lancers extend their winning streak to six games.  For the season Larkin – who was named the Associated Press Southwest Ohio Division II Offensive Player of the Year earlier in the week – has now rushed for 2,252 yards and 31 TDs.  He has rushed 55 times for 694 yards and eight TDs in the playoffs..  White, who has run for 394 yards and five TDs in the postseason, now has 1,447 yards rushing and 23 TDs this season.
