GCL South Hoop Teams Off To Unbeaten Start

Elder opened its season with a 67-45 victory over Western Hills Tuesday night at The Pit, giving the GCL South basketball teams a combined 6-0 record heading into play this weekend.  La Salle and St. Xavier also were winners Tuesday night.  The Lancers had four players score in double figures in a 59-35 victory at Turpin, while senior guard Jack Westerfield scored 14 to lead St. Xavier to a 53-33 win that same night at Winton Woods.

Senior guard Brad Miller scored a team-high 20 points for Elder, hitting 8 of 10 shots in the Panthers’ opener against West Hills.  Elder hits the road tonight, traveling to Winton Woods as part of the inaugural Mercy Health Tipoff Classic.  Tipoff is 7:30.  St. Xavier looks to remain unbeaten when it travels to Louisville St. Xavier tonight.  Tipoff is 7:30. 

Moeller – which opened with a 58-28 win over Ryle last Friday - resumes play Saturday with a non-conference game at Wilmington.  Tipoff is 7:30.  La Salle doesn’t play this weekend, but will look for its third victory in as many games against Northwest next Tuesday.  Tipoff is 7:30 p.m. at La Salle High School.
