The four GCL South basketball teams are off to a strong start in non-conference play this December, taking a combined 15-2 record into games this week.  Elder is off to an impressive 5-0 start, the latest win a 64-50 victory over previously undefeated Walnut Hills Saturday night at The Pit.  Senior guard Brad Miller scored 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Panthers – who are at Princeton Tuesday for a 7:30 p.m. game.

La Salle is off to a 4-0 start, after knocking off previously unbeaten Aiken, 48-37, on Friday at La Salle.  Aiken is ranked No. 1 in The Enquirer’s Divisions II-IV poll.  La Salle, along with Elder and Moeller, will play in tournaments in Florida that begin Friday and run through December 31.  The Lancers are participating in the Kingdom of the Sun, playing four games in five days in Ocala, Fla.

Moeller is now 3-1 after a 37-28 victory at Mt. Healthy Saturday night.  The Crusaders are in action today, with the varsity hosting GCL Co-Ed member Dayton Chaminade-Julienne, at 3 this afternoon.  C-J is off to a 5-0 start.  Moeller also is heading to Florida and is scheduled to participate in the Battle At The Villages Invitational, which is played at The Villages Charter High School in central Florida.

St. Xavier also is 3-1 heading into a home game against Thurgood Marshall from Dayton. Tipoff is 2 p.m.  The Bombers saw their three-game winning streak snapped Saturday night at Centerville, where the Elks held the Bombers to just 31 percent shooting, including 4 of 21 from three-point range.  St. Xavier will travel to Indianapolis and play in the Brebuef Jesuit Tournament.
