St. Xavier senior linebacker Justin Hilliard and Elder junior offensive lineman Tommy Kraemer were named to the USA Today All-American football teams earlier this week.  Hilliard, who has committed to play college football at Ohio State, was named to the first team.  Kramer, who has committed to play at Notre Dame, was named second team.

Hilliard has been racking up the awards in his final year for the Bombers – being named a finalist for the prestigious Butkus Awards, presented annually to the top high school linebacker in the country, chosen a U.S. Army All-American, named the Associated Press Ohio Co-Defensive Player of the Year, and chosen the Southwest Ohio Defensive Player of the Year after recording 71 tackles, five sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.  Hilliard helped St. Xavier finish 10-3, win a share of the GCL South championship and earn a berth in the Region 2 semifinals.

Hilliard will play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, which is scheduled for Saturday, January 3, at the Alamodome in San Antonio.  Kickoff is 1 p.m., and the game will be televised live on NBC (WLWT, Channel 5 in Cincinnati).  Kramer is committed to play in the 2016 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.  The game annually features the best 90 senior high school football players from around the country.

Kramer, who is currently a member of the Panthers’ basketball team that took a perfect 6-0 mark into its holiday trek to Florida this weekend, was a key member of Elder’s offensive line that helped his offense average 356.6 yards and 30.4 points (both second in the league) and earn a berth in the state playoffs.  Kramer, was named first team All-GCL South and All-Southwest District along with receiving special mention All-Ohio honors.
