Jim Hilvert, who posted a 67-19 record and won six league championships in eight years as the head football coach at Thomas More College in Crestview Hills, Ky., is the new varsity coach at La Salle High School, the school announced today.  Hilvert, who is expected to be officially introduced at an all school assembly Friday, takes over for Nate Moore – who stepped down earlier this week to become coach at Massillon Washington High School.

Hilvert, who was named coach of the year three times in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (one of the top leagues in NCAA Division III) while at Thomas More, takes over a La Salle team that finished 14-1 last season, tied for the GCL South championship, went on to win the Ohio Division II state title in dominating fashion, and returns a strong nucleus of players from last year’s roster.

The winningest coach in Thomas More football history, Hilvert’s team made four playoff appearances during his tenure.  His 2011 team earned the highest ranking in TMC history, when the Saints were ranked No. 6 nationally after the fourth week of the regular season. Thomas More finished 8-2 this past season, but did not qualify for the postseason.

Hilvert, a 1989 graduate of Elder whose father, Jim Sr. is a 1964 graduate of La Salle, has coached previously at Mt. St. Joseph, Western Michigan University, Oak Hills and Winton Woods.  Jim and his wife, Jennifer, reside in Northern Kentucky with their three children. Click HERE the complete press release.
