Elder looks to start another winning streak when the Panthers host GCL Co-Ed member Kettering Alter at 7:30 tonight at The Pit.  The Panthers, ranked No. 7 in this week’s Associated Press Division I state poll and No. 3 in The Enquirer’s Division I weekly coaches rankings, are coming off their first loss of the season last Friday – falling 61-54 at La Salle to snap a 16-game winning streak.

Off to its best start since the 1971-872 season, Elder welcomes an Alter team that is 9-8 overall, 5-3 in the league, but has won its last two games – defeating Purcell Marian, 59-50, a week ago, and then knocking off McNicholas, 53-36, on Saturday.  Alter has played one GCL South team this season, losing to St. Xavier, 56-50, in Kettering back on January 10.

Elder is led by two of the GCL South’s top three scorers in junior guard Frankie Hofmeyer, second at 14.9 points per game, and senior guard Brad Miller, third at 13.2.  Junior guard Joey Sabato, the GCL South’s Player of the Year in soccer this past season, leads the league in steals, at 2.7 per game, and is second in assists, at 5.5.  Elder has yet to lose at home this season, winning all seven games to date.
