Junior guard Trey McBride scored 13 points, and junior guard Nate Georgeton added 11 points and six assists to lead Moeller to a 54-23 non-conference victory at Winton Woods Saturday, the Crusaders’ seventh straight win.  St. Xavier also picked up a road win Saturday, knocking off GCL Co-Ed member Bishop Fenwick, 59-43, while La Salle suffered only its second loss in the last 11 games, falling 48-44 at Walnut Hills.

Here is a look at Saturday’s GCL South games:

Moeller – One night removed from a big GCL South win at home against Elder, the Crusaders – ranked No. 7 in The Enquirer’s Division I weekly coaches’ poll – held Winton Woods to just 13 points in the final three quarters – allowing just five, three and five points, respectively.  Moeller (13-6) held Winton Woods to just 7 of 31 shooting and forced 14 turnovers.  Up next is a big league matchup at La Salle Friday.

St. Xavier – Junior guard Johnny Bubenhofer scored a team-high 16 points off the bench, and senior guards Sam Martin and Jack Westerfield each added 14 to help the No. 10 Bombers snap a three-game losing streak.  The trio combined to hit 15 of 22 field goals, including four three-pointers by Martin.  St. Xavier (13-6) went 21-for-33 from the field, while also connecting on 8 of 14 three-pointers.

La Salle – The Lancers had a rare off shooting night against No. 9 Walnut Hills, hitting just 19 of 52 from the field (36.5 percent) and 2 of 18 (11.1) from three-point range.  La Salle (15-4), which had won three straight, was outscored, 14-7, in the third quarter.  Guards Tre Crigler and C.J. Fleming each scored 9 points to lead No. 4 La Salle, while sophomore forward Joe Hartman had eight and junior guard Jeremy Larkin added seven and six rebounds.
