Crusaders Looking To Win Third Title In Four Years

Moeller is predominantly known for its success on the football field throughout its athletic history, but the Crusaders are starting to build quite a statewide reputation in baseball as well.  Coach Tim Held’s team looks to continue that path today, when Moeller (29-3) meets Aurora (22-5) in the Ohio High School Athletic Association State Baseball Championship in a semifinal game at 1 p.m. at Huntington Park in Columbus.

The Crusaders, who won Division I state titles in 2012 and 2013 and advanced to the state semifinals last year, have won nine consecutive games – including a 7-4 win over Mason last Friday in the Cincinnati Region 4 final at the University of Cincinnati.  Aurora knocked off Massillon Jackson, the defending state champion, that same day to win the Canton Region 4 title.

Cleland Sr. Ignatius (26-5) meets Westerville Central (25-6) in the first semifinal at 10 a.m. The semifinal winners will play for the state championship at 10 a.m. Saturday at Huntington Park.
