McBride Paces Moeller To Season-Opening Win

Senior Guard Scores 24 As Crusaders Defeat Kings Tuesday Night

Senior guard Trey McBride scored 24 points, connecting on 10-of-14 field goals, to pace three double-figure scorers as Moeller opened its 2015-16 basketball season with a 63-50 victory over Kings Tuesday night at Moeller.  Moeller is the second Greater Catholic League South Division team to tip off its season, with St. Xavier defeating Badin, 50-33, in Hamilton last Friday.

After falling behind 11-4 after one quarter, Moeller came alive to outscore the Knights in each of the final three quester – including a 27-14 advantage in the fourth to put the game away.  McBride was joined in double figures by junior forward Riley Voss, who had 14 points and a team-high seven rebounds, and junior guard Caleb Canter, who finished with 11 points on perfect 4-of-4 shooting from the field.

Moeller travels to Union, Ky. to face Ryle at 7:30 p.m. Friday, while Elder opens its season by hosting Winton Woods.  Tipoff is 7:30 p.m. at The Pit.  St. Xavier is back in action on Saturday, hosting Centerville in the Bombers’ home opener at 7:30.  La Salle, which plays for the Division II state football championship Friday night, plays its season basketball opener on Tuesday, December 8, traveling to Northwest at 7:30 p.m.
