St. Xavier Falls To Winton Woods In Three-Overtime Marathon

Just four days removed from winning a second straight Ohio Division II state football championship, La Salle opened its 2015-16 basketball season with a 47-41 victory at Northwest behind a game-high 20 points from junior guard C.J. Fleming, while St. Xavier lost at Winton Woods,70-65, in three overtimes in Tuesday night games involving schools from the Greater Catholic League South Division.

The Lancers (1-0), playing without members of the football team, connected on nine three-points goals – including a team-high four from Fleming.  Senior guard Kegan Hudson joined Fleming in double figures with 16, also hitting four three-pointers.    La Salle played against Northwest without its share of football players, including Jeremy Larkin, Tre’Sean Smith and Nick Watson.
