Keating Natatorium Is Site For Division I League Swimming Competition

The 2016 Greater Catholic League and Girls’ Greater Catholic League Division I Swimming and Diving Championships resume today, with competition in all swimming events to be held at Keating Natatorium on the St. Xavier High School campus.  Diving finals were held Monday at the University of Cincinnati, with St. Xavier senior Drew Fitzgerald finishing first again and junior teammate Jake Knapke coming in second.

Swimming competition is set to begin at 5 today.

St. Xavier and  St. Ursula Academy are the defending league champions.  The AquaBombers have won seven consecutive Ohio High School Athletic Association Division I state championships, 16 of the last 17 state titles, and a record 36 state crowns overall.  St. Ursula defeated Ursuline Academy, 442-389, in last year’s GGCL competition and went on to post an impressive runner-up finish to Upper Arlington in the state meet.

Tickets to today’s swimming events are $6 for adults and $4 for students.  Visit www.swimmeet.com for meet results.
