Panthers Get By Moeller In Final, 32-27, To Advance To State Tournament

The Ohio High School Athletic Association Dual Team Wrestling Region 8 final literally came down to the winner of the last match Tuesday at Elder High School’s Memorial Fieldhouse, and it was sophomore Alec Moore-Nash of Elder earning a highly contested 3-2 decision over Moeller senior Joe Hensley to give Elder a 32-27 victory over its Greater Catholic League South Division rival.

Elder will now represent the region in the OHSAA State Wrestling Dual Team Tournament on Sunday, February 14, at The Ohio State University’s St. John Arena in Columbus.  Matches begin at 11 a.m. that day, with the semifinals set for 3:30 p.m., and the finals scheduled to get started at 7:30.

Mason wrestlers captured five of the first seven semifinal matches against Moeller, before the Crusaders posted victories in the last seven weight classes – including Hensley with a pin in the 285-pound match.
