Bombers Defeat Winton Woods In Mercy Health Tipoff

Senior Daniel Keyes scored 16 points to pace three double-figure scorers and lead St. Xavier to a 57-29 victory over Winton Woods Tuesday night at Winton Woods as part of the season-opening Mercy Health Tipoff Classic   Keyes, who was named the game’s Most Valuable Player, has now scored 42 points in St. Xavier’s first two games – pouring in a game-high 26 last Saturday against Fairfield.

St. Xavier (1-1) , which shot 61.8 percent connecting on 21-of-34 field goals, also was sound defensively by holding a young Winton Woods (0-2) to just 10-of-37 shooting from the field and forcing 18 turnovers.  Joining Keyes in double figures were Matthew Budde and Nathan Stockman, who each added 13.  The trio combined to hit 16-of-26 field goals and make five three-pointers.  Keyes has not made 9-of-13 three-pointers this season.
