Elder Captures Non-Conference Road Victory At Winton Woods

Senior guard Keegan McDowell scored a season-high 26 points, hitting 11-of-16 shots, grabbed four rebounds and had two steals to help lead Moeller to a 69-46 victory over Columbus Whitehall-Yearling Friday night at Moeller.  The win was the second in four days for the undefeated and top-ranked Crusaders, who close the week by hosting neighborhood rival Sycamore at 7:30 tonight.  Elder was the other Greater Catholic League South Division team in action Friday, as the Panthers posted a 63-33 win at Winton Woods.

McDowell, off to a fast start averaging 16.8 points for a deep and talented Moeller team, helped the Crusaders build a nine-point halftime advantage and then put the game away by outscoring the Rams, 20-7, in the third period.  Senior forward Riley Voss also had a solid game, scoring 13 points without missing a shot in five attempts and hauling down a team-high seven rebounds.  Moeller (4-0), No. 1 in The Enquirer’s Division I area coaches’ poll, recorded 21 assists – with guards Isaiah Payton and Caleb Canter each recording four.

Elder won its second straight, thanks to a quick start and god shooting.   The Panthers jumped out to a 16-4 lead after one quarter and extended the advantage to 31-14 at halftime.  Elder (3-1) connected on 16-of-24 field goals, including 8-of-13 from three-point range.  Junior guard Zach Harp led the Panthers with 18 points, while David Dabeelt added nine, Shaun Sullivan had eight and Brett Marsh chipped in with seven.  Dabbelt also led Elder with eight rebounds.
