McBride, Voss Lead Crusaders Over Alter Saturday Night

Sophomore guard Miles MCBride and senior forward Riley Voss posted season highs in points and rebounds, respectively, to help No. 1 Moeller remain perfect this season with a 60-46 victory over Kettering Alter in the marquee game Saturday night of the Kevin C. Barnhill Coaches Showcase at Little Miami High School.

McBride led all scorers with 20 points, surpassing his previous high of 16 against Pickerington North in Moeller’s season opener in early December.  He turned in a complete game, too, also grabbing seven rebounds, dishing out four assists and recording four steals.  Voss, tied with Elder’s Dashawn Mosley atop for the league lead averaging 5.6 rebounds per game, finished with 13 boards – surpassing his previous high of 10 against New Mission, MA in the Battle at The Villages in Florida over the holiday break.

Moeller (13-0), ranked No. 1 in Division I in Ohio and Greater Cincinnati, outrebounded Alter, a member of the GCL Co-Ed Division, 40-23, and registered 17 assists in the game – led by five from senior guard Isaiah Payton.  Alter (9-2), ranked No. 10 in the latest Associated Press Division II state poll, entered the game riding a seven-game winning streak.

Coach Carl Kremer’s team was the lone GCL South Division team in action Saturday.  The other three league members get back at it Tuesday with non-conference games.  Elder hosts neighborhood rival Oak Hills at The Pit as part of the St. Elizabeth Healthcare Bluegrass-Buckeye Classic; La Salle is at Colerain, and St. Xavier travels to Lakota West.  Next up for Moeller is its first GCL South road game, when the Crusaders travel to take on St. Xavier at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
