GCL South Hoop Games Tonight Are Sellouts


<p style="text-align:justify;"><em><span style="font-size:xx-small;">Posted on 2/10/2017</span></em></p><div style="text-align:justify;"><em><strong>Moeller Tries To Extend Streak, Win League Outright</strong></em><br /><br />Both Greater Catholic League South Division basketball games scheduled for tonight are sellouts. &nbsp;Top-ranked and unbeaten Moeller will try and remain perfect this season, extend its home winning streak to 19 games and win the GCL South championship outright when it hosts St. Xavier at 7:30 on Montgomery Road. &nbsp;Elder and La Salle, currently tied for second in the league, will play before a sellout crowd at The Pit on Elder’s campus in Price Hill.<br /><br />Moeller (19-0, 4-0 GCL South), ranked atop in Greater Cincinnati and Ohio at the Division I level and up to No. 20 nationally in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 this week, already has secured a share of its fourth straight league title. &nbsp;The Crusaders can win the coveted crown outright for the third time in five years (also unbeaten in 2012-13 and 2013-14) with a win against St. Xavier (7-11, 0-4). &nbsp;Moeller won at St. Xavier, 58-38, back on January 20 behind 14 points from senior guard Keegan McDowell.<br /><br />Elder (10-8, 2-2) is looking to even its season series against La Salle – which defeated the Panthers, 41-36, on January 6 at La Salle. &nbsp;The Lancers played that game without senior guard C.J. Fleming, the GCL South leading scorer who averages 16.9 points a game who was sidelined with a shoulder injury. &nbsp;La Salle (16-3, 2-2) has won 24 of its last 25 home games, the lone blemish a week ago to Moeller, 47-41. &nbsp;Elder has won three straight, including its last two road games.<br /><br />Fans must have a ticket to attend any of the games at each location. &nbsp;The freshman games start at 4:30 p.m., followed by the junior varsity at 6, and the varsity at 7:30.</div><p style="text-align:justify;"></p>
