Bombers Defeat Winton Woods, Now Prepare For Postseason

Senior guard Daniel Keyes led a balanced scoring attack with 11 points to lead St. Xavier to a 46-33 victory over Winton Woods in a non-conference basketball game Saturday night at St. Xavier, the last night of the regular season in Ohio.  The win was the second this season for St. Xavier over Winton Woods, snapping the Bombers’ six-game losing streak heading into the sectional tournament that begins this week.

Keyes hit 4-of-7 field goals for St. Xavier (8-14), while senior Bobby Jefferson came off the bench to add eight points on 4-of-4 shooting.  The Bombers recorded 10 assists and seven steals, two by senior Pete Rumpke, while committing just four turnovers.  St. Xavier also defeated Winton Woods, 57-29, back on December 6 as part of the Mercy Health Tipoff Classic. St. Xavier opens its postseason by facing Lakota West at 8 p.m. Saturday at Hamilton High School.
