Six Different Players, All Seniors, Score TDs In Victory

Six different Moeller seniors scored touchdowns early Saturday afternoon, as the Crusaders closed out the regular season by building a 32-0 halftime lead and ultimately posting a 53-14 victory against Canada Prep Football Academy from Ontario at the Gerry Faust Athletic Complex on Moeller’s Montgomery Road campus in Kenwood.  On this day, Moeller fans celebrated a group of seniors who helped the Crusaders finish 6-4 in the 2018 regular season, including a perfect 3-0 record in the Greater Catholic League South Division to win the league championship and a berth in the Division I state playoffs.

Moeller (2-8), which battled through a difficult schedule and a struggling offense this season, was led by senior running back Zach Williams – who carried eight times for a career-high 122 yards and two TDs, a 20-yard scoring run in the first quarter and a 14-yarder in the third quarter.  Senior Carrington Valentine, a University of Kentucky verbal commit, ran 18 yards for a TD on his lone carry of the day.

Senior running back Dalton Lay scored a rushing TD on a 3-yard run, while senior receiver Anthony Sledge hauled in a 4-yard scoring pass.  Even senior lineman Aaron Williams rushed for a 1-yard score, and senior defensive end Vince Scally returned an attempted onside kick 50 yards for a TD.  Senior kicker Kevin Thibodeaux, who plans to attend the United States Naval Academy, made the most of his final high school game by going 6-of-7 on extra points and nailing a 45-yard field goal.
