Busy Saturday Night Ahead For GCL South Hoops Teams
Logan Duncomb and Max Land each scored 23 points, combining to connect on 20-of-24 field goals to help Moeller post a 78-51 victory at Chillicothe Saturday night.  Moeller was the lone Greater Catholic League South Division basketball team in action last evening, with Elder and St. Xavier scheduled to join the Crusaders for games tonight.  Unbeaten La Salle has the weekend off before returning to the court Tuesday to begin its holiday season.
Duncomb, a 6-foot-9 junior forward, made 11-of-13 field goals, while the 6-4 senior guard Land was good on 9-of-11 shots from the field as Moeller (3-1) used a 25-7 scoring advantage in the third quarter to extend what was just a three-point halftime lead for the two-time defending Division I state champions.
The Crusaders, who also got 10 points each from Will McCracken and Alex Williams, shot a sizzling 70.5 percent from the field, hitting 31-of-44 field-goal attempts, and made all 11 of its free throws.  Moeller will attempt to make it three straight wins and extend its homecourt winning streak to 38 in a row when it hosts GCL Co-Ed member Dayton Chaminade Julienne at 7:30 tonight.
Elder (2-2) also is in action tonight, as the Panthers host longtime neighborhood rival Western Hills.  Tipoff is 7:30 p.m. at The Pit in Price Hill.  St. Xavier (4-2), which has won four consecutive games, looks to make it five in a row when it travels to West Clermont at 7:30 tonight.  La Salle (5-0) will attempt to remain perfect and equal its best start in four years when it hosts Withrow at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
