La Salle Gets Back On Track, Looks To Stay Alive In Race
Tony Walker and Luke Kandra each scored 11 points to lead a balanced Elder offense and help the Panthers to their fourth straight win, a 55-39 victory over Purcell Marian on Tuesday night  at The Pit in Price Hill.  Elder (11-8) will look to make it two straight in the Greater Catholic League South Division tonight when it hosts top-ranked Moeller at 7:30 p.m.
La Salle (17-2) also posted a win Tuesday against a team from the GCL Co-Ed Division with a 51-38 triumph against Chaminade Julienne in Dayton.  The Lancers get back into league play when they travel to St. Xavier (12-5) at 7:30 tonight. La Salle’s only losses this season are to Moeller.
When it travels to Elder, Moeller (18-1) will be attempting to extend a number of streaks.  The Crusaders, No. 1 all season in the Associated Press Division I state poll, have won 17 straight games, 23 in a row in the GCL South and 74 consecutive against teams from Southwest Ohio.  A win at Elder will give Moeller its fourth straight outright GCL South title ; the Crusaders clinched a share of their eighth straight crown with a win over La Salle last Friday.
