Unbeaten St. Xavier Off To Fast Start, Travels To Elder Next Week

Junior Brock Kiper scored a pair of goals, off assists from Dom Breidenbach and Luke Wilson, and Moeller’s defense did the rest to help the Crusaders to a 2-1 victory against Lakota West Tuesday night at Lakota West High School in West Chester.   Moeller is battling through early-season injuries that include three starters sidelined last night.

Moeller (1-1-1), the three-time defending Greater Catholic League South Division champion, opens league play by hosting La Salle (1-11-1) at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Gerry Faust Athletic Complex on Moeller’s Montgomery Road campus.  After opening last week with a 4-1 win against Little Miami, La Salle played to a scoreless draw at Oak Hills last Saturday and then dropped a 3-2 decision to undefeated Loveland last night at Lancer Stadium.

St. Xavier (4-0-0) is off to an impressive start.  The Bombers have outscored their first four opponents, 14-2, including shutout wins against Toledo St. John’s Jesuit and Cuyahoga Falls Walsh Jesuit over the weekend as part of the field-shortened Jesuit Cup.  St. Xavier is off until next Tuesday, when it travels to face Elder in the GCL South opener for both schools.  Kickoff is 7 p.m. at the Panther Athletic Complex in Price Hill.

The Panthers lost at Sycamore, 6-1, last night.
