GCL South FB Well Represented In Early Period

Sixteen Players Ink Letters Of Intent on First National Signing Day
The four Greater Catholic League South Division football teams were well represented with signees Wednesday, the first National Signing Day of the early period where high school student-athletes can secure scholarship offers and formally sign National Letters of Intent.  The early signing period for the Class of 2021 runs through Friday.
GCL South champion St. Xavier, which won the Ohio Division I state championship this season, had six players sign today with NCAA Division I programs – four inking with Bowl Championship Series (BCS) schools, led by Liam Clifford joining his brother, Sean, at Penn State University.  Two Bombers signed with Football Championship Series (FCS) program, including playmaking defensive back Gabe Dubois with Lafayette College, a member of the Patriot League
Elder and La Salle each had four players sign with BCS programs, including the entire Lancers’ defensive secondary that includes Devonta Smith with the top-ranked University of Alabama, Jaylen Johnson with Ohio State University, Isea Jarmon with the University of Cincinnati, and Jaymar Hargrove-Mundy with Miami University.  Elder’s signees include receive Scott Nieman, the GCL Offensive Player of the Year, also signing with Miami.
Moeller had two players sign, including Landon Fickell who intends to play for his dad, Luke, and the Cincinnati Bearcats.
In all, 16 players from the four league schools finalized their commitments on the first National Signing Day.
